Zoe was in her element at the Boston Anime Convention :-)

My good friend Chef Paul invited me to photograph and event where he was launching his new line of green cuisine and a new truffle. Mmm… Truffles…

Meet ‘Sweet Caroline’ … she’s up for adoption. Here’s her Valentine Day photos for the website she’s listed on.

I made it to Chelmsford around dinner time. I paid some expensive tolls getting through New York: $46.95! Yowza! Ouch!

After a welcome back beer and lobstah roll I moved some of my things in and slept a good long time.

Sorry my trip wasn’t near as entertaining as my last one but uneventful is fine by me. :-)

I drove in very heavy rain for hours. Visibility was sometimes 20 yards. When I got to Cleveland I stopped at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to give myself a break from the white knuckle grip of death I had on the steering wheel. The museum was cool but no photography so I had to check my photo gear.

I made it Buffalo around 10pm.

Yesterday I made it to Portage, Indiana. Today I’m aiming for Buffalo, NY. Driving in rain makes me tired… I hope it doesn’t rain today like it did yesterday.

I’m writing from a rest area in Waukee Rest Area, I-80 Exit 119EB/WB.

Yesterday I travelled 784 miles. Over the rockies and into the plains of Nebraska. The highest elevation I travelled was 10,603 across Vail Pass, Colorado. My UHaul truck was getting a whopping 7mpg for most of that stretch. I’m hoping for better mileage across flatter land today.

I checked into a Motel 6 last night in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and it wasn’t until I was settled into my room that I found out that I booked a hotel that didn’t have wireless.

Later I’ll be in Chicago and stay the night in Gary, IN.

I tried to find wired internet access at 4 different hotels before giving up and settling for wireless access on my laptop. Even though there are a dozen hotels here the prices are all over $100 for a room for the night. This place is 300 miles from Denver in one direction and hundreds of miles away from whatever I left behind me.

I get a free breakfast with my stay so I’m off to eat and my hope is to make it to Omaha this evening.

I’ll probably be done with my Harry Potter audio book by then…

I’m writing from my hotel room in Vegas. After coffee I will continue east toward Denver, Chicago, Cleveland, and finally Boston.

I would post from my Sidekick like I did on my last trip but my blog software, Wordpress, has implemented a javascript error that my phone cannot parse. I upgraded the software to the latest version this morning and it’s still not working. I doubt that I can roll back two versions because the database was updated. So my posts will be from wifi hotspots on my laptop.

My buddy Howie was racing at Willow Springs International Speedway and invited me along for the photo op. Nothing could prepare me for the 110 degree temperature in the shade and being strapped into a race car and being rocketed around the track at 138mph. Thanks Howie!
